Ashley’s Story

During the summer of 2015, Ashley Marie Code, a soon-to-be high school junior at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana, was diagnosed with a malignant, inoperable brain tumor.  Ashley immediately began radiation and chemotherapy, battling cancer for a year of her life, but on September 1, 2016, two weeks shy of her 18th birthday, Ashley’s battle ended.  As a teenage girl, the cross that Ashley carried in this life was a heavy one, but she carried that cross with strength and pride.

In the year prior to her diagnosis, Ashley had a school project to create a book that illustrated her goals in life.  Ashley’s number one goal was to find a cure for cancer.

The Ashley Code Project is a non-profit organization created with the purpose of helping to fulfill Ashley’s dream of finding a cure for cancer by raising funds for pediatric brain cancer research and treatment in the New Orleans area.

Ashley Marie Code was born on September 15, 1998 and grew up in Metairie, Louisiana with her parents, Michael and Cassi, and her younger siblings, Jonathan, Katie, and Andrew. She attended St. Ann School in Metairie prior to her time at Mount Carmel Academy. Ashley chose to make a difference in the world by greeting everyone with a smile, and her legacy will live on through her family, friends, and this organization.
